February/March 2025

If you’ve booked your venue, then the next thing you’ll be thinking about is how to style it. With so many options available, this can seem like a daunting task, but the most important thing to remember is that any space can be transformed with even the simplest of details. Luckily, we’re blessed in the North West with some incredibly talented suppliers, so the world’s your oyster.

Begin by deciding on a colour scheme or theme for your day. Do you and your partner love the great outdoors or want to incorporate your favourite film series? There are lots of ways that you can have a theme without it being over the top or tacky. If there isn’t a particular idea that stands out to you, opt for a colour scheme instead. Is blue your favourite colour? Why not incorporate the hue into your napkins, bridesmaids’ dresses and flowers? Ask your venue for their suggestions on how to style the space; they’re the experts after all.

When looking for a venue stylist, the best thing to do is reach out to companies that have created looks that are similar to what you envision. Ask to see images of their previous work and read reviews from previous couples to make sure that they can deliver what they’re promising.

To help give you some ideas, we’ve rounded up local stylists and asked for their tips for creating an on-trend celebration.

Happy planning!

Spotlight on... The Lake District

Storrs Hall

Storrs Hall is a Grade II*-listed Georgian mansion set on the shoreline of Lake Windermere in the Lake District. The hall was built in the 1790s by Sir John Legard and more than doubled in size when it was turned into a hotel in 1892.

There are 36 bedrooms, 29 of which retain their original architecture, so every room is different. The original Boathouse is a luxuriously private and indulgent getaway. This open-plan suite is bordered by a large terrace edging the lake and includes a private hot tub and firepit to enhance the outdoor vibe and complement the facilities inside. This is complemented by the six contemporary Lakeside Suites, which sit in the woodland between the Boathouse and main house, facing west over the lake. Each has a private terrace with its own Japanese-style cedar hot tub. Slide the glass walls back to maximise the back-to-nature feel of these nurturing spaces. Two of these suites are suitable for people with limited mobility. These spaces are wrapped in 17 acres of private grounds and have a dual-aspect lake frontage looking along the greater length of Windermere.

The wedding team at Storrs Hall will be able to help you plan the wedding of your dreams, from your ceremony to the big reception. You can host your service in a choice of settings with up to 80 loved ones, including a drinks reception with canapés and a three-course wedding breakfast followed by tea, coffee and petit fours.

When tying the knot here, you will receive a complimentary menu tasting, a toastmaster service, a drinks package, wedding chairs and table linens, menus and place cards, an evening reception for up to 110 guests and a dedicated wedding coordinator.

Lily Arkwright donates wedding rings to terminally ill Manchester groom

In a touching display of generosity, Lily Arkwright Jewellers has stepped forward to support a very special couple by donating a pair of wedding bands to a terminally ill groom and his fiancée, ensuring they can celebrate their dream wedding despite their circumstances. The ethical and sustainable jeweller was contacted by Gift of a Wedding, a UK charity that arranges weddings for individuals facing a terminal diagnosis. The couple, based in Withington, Manchester, had hoped to marry but faced financial barriers. Their wedding was set for Friday, 28th February 2025, leaving little time to secure the rings needed for their big day. After learning about their story, the team at Lily Arkwright was honoured to help, donating two plain gold wedding bands, which were delivered ahead of the wedding date.
